Expert advice.
Defensible output.
Certified guidance on mining operations, mineral valuation, processing strategy, and regulatory compliance. No generalities. No approximations. No advice we cannot defend.
In mineral decisions, the cost of the wrong advice
is not abstract.
It shows up in the deal, the valuation, or the operation.
Mineral decisions are among the most consequential commercial decisions a business or individual makes. Whether you are deciding whether to develop a mineral property, preparing to present a mineral asset to investors, navigating Uganda's regulatory framework for a new operation, or trying to understand what your mineral holding is actually worth in the current market, the quality of the expert input you are working from directly determines the quality of the decision you make.
Generic advice costs nothing and is worth exactly that. An opinion from someone who has read about mineral valuation but has not worked in Uganda's specific regulatory and commercial environment is not the same as expertise developed through direct engagement with this market, this terrain, and this regulatory structure.
Maxmetal's consultancy service is built on the same foundation as every other service we offer: direct expertise, documented methodology, and outputs that are accountable. When we produce a consultancy report, it is not a summary of general industry knowledge formatted to look professional. It is a specific, evidence-based assessment of your specific situation, one that answers the question you are actually asking and produces a document you can take into the room that matters.
The conversation that follows our consultancy report is a different conversation from the one you would have without it. That difference is what you are engaging us for.
Mineral consultancy at Maxmetal serves every client
who needs expert opinion they can stake a decision on.

Contact Our TeamPrivate Clients & Legal Processes
You need independent mineral expert opinion for a legal proceeding, an estate matter, or a formal dispute.
A Maxmetal consultancy report is produced by a licensed operation under documented methodology, giving legal processes, arbitration panels, and formal dispute procedures an independent, credentialled expert opinion that holds up under scrutiny.
Request a Private ConsultationMineral consultancy is expert guidance applied to a specific situation.
Not a general opinion. A documented, accountable assessment.
The word "consultancy" covers a wide range of activities in any professional services context. In the mineral sector, it specifically means the application of technical, regulatory, and commercial expertise to a client's specific mineral situation, producing an output that goes beyond what a search engine, a general advisor, or an informal conversation can provide.
What separates mineral consultancy from mineral opinion is documentation and accountability. An opinion is what someone thinks based on their knowledge. A consultancy output is what an expert determines based on evidence, applied methodology, and direct assessment of the specific situation, documented in a format that a client can present to their investors, their legal team, their regulatory counterparts, or their commercial partners as a credible, independent professional determination.
At Maxmetal, consultancy engagements begin with a clear definition of the question being asked. What does the client need to know? What decision does the output need to support? What audience will receive it and what standard of evidence does that audience require? Those questions determine the scope of the engagement, and the scope determines what we produce.
The output of a Maxmetal consultancy engagement is always a documented report. Not a verbal briefing, not an email summary, not a slide deck. A formal, signed document that states the scope of the assessment, the methodology applied, the evidence base used, the findings produced, and the conclusions that follow from those findings. A document that the client can take into any professional context and present as the work of a licensed, accountable operation.
The industries and situations we advise on span the full range of Uganda's mineral sector, from gold and gemstones to base metals, industrial minerals, and the regulatory and compliance landscape that governs all of them. If your situation is specific and you are not certain it falls within our scope, contact us before you commit to a formal engagement. The initial conversation is where we establish whether we are the right operation for your question.

Six areas of mineral consultancy.
Each one specific. Each one documented.
Maxmetal's consultancy capability spans the full range of situations where expert mineral knowledge determines a commercial, regulatory, or investment outcome. Find your situation below.
Mineral Valuation
The certified assessment of a mineral asset's current market value, based on compositional analysis, market conditions, and the specific commercial context in which the valuation will be used. We produce valuations that investors, buyers, legal processes, and financial institutions can rely on as independent, expert determinations.
Example output: A formal mineral valuation report prepared for presentation to a private equity investor considering a stake in a mineral property.
Mining Operations Advisory
Expert guidance on the operational, technical, and commercial aspects of running or developing a mining operation in Uganda. This covers processing methodology, equipment selection, operational efficiency, output quality optimisation, and the practical regulatory compliance requirements that govern day-to-day operations.
Example output: An operational assessment report identifying processing inefficiencies and recommending specific methodology changes with documented commercial impact projections.
Processing Strategy
Advice on how to handle, process, and present mineral output to maximise its commercial value in the target market. This includes guidance on the refining, smelting, and certification decisions that determine whether a mineral output commands the price it is worth or the price someone else decides it is worth.
Example output: A processing strategy brief produced for a mining operation preparing its first export consignment, specifying the processing pathway from mine output to export-ready, certified material.
Regulatory Compliance Advisory
Expert guidance on navigating Uganda's mineral sector regulatory framework, licensing requirements, DGSM compliance obligations, export permit procedures, royalty and tax obligations, and the documentation standards that regulated operations must maintain. Produced for both new entrants to the sector and established operators facing regulatory change.
Example output: A compliance review report produced for a mining company preparing for a DGSM inspection, documenting current compliance status and identifying specific remediation steps.
Investment Preparation
Expert advisory support for mineral property owners and mining operators preparing to present their assets to investors, lenders, or acquisition counterparties. This includes mineral asset assessment, documentation preparation, and the specific expert input that an investor's due diligence process will require from an independent source.
Example output: An independent mineral asset assessment report produced for a property owner preparing for a formal investor presentation, covering composition, estimated reserves, processing pathway, and certified current market value.
Market Positioning & Commercial Strategy
Expert guidance on how to position a mineral operation, a mineral asset, or a mineral product in Uganda's domestic and international market. This covers buyer identification, pricing strategy, documentation requirements for target markets, and the specific commercial steps that move a mineral from production to profitable sale.
Example output: A market positioning report produced for a gemstone operation entering the international coloured stone market, covering target buyer profiles, certification requirements, and documented pricing benchmarks.
From first contact to final report.
Every Maxmetal consultancy engagement begins with a conversation and ends with a document you can take into any professional context. Here is what the path between those two points looks like.
We begin with a direct conversation about your situation and what you need.
You contact us, by phone, email, or in person, and describe your situation: what mineral asset or operation is involved, what question you need answered, and what the output needs to do for you. We ask the specific questions that allow us to scope the engagement correctly. No commitment is made at this stage. No fee is incurred. This is the conversation that determines whether Maxmetal is the right operation for your question.
We define exactly what the engagement will cover and what the output will contain.
Based on the initial consultation, we produce a written scope statement, specifying the question being addressed, the methodology we will apply, the evidence base we will draw on, the format of the output, and the timeline. You review and agree to the scope before the engagement begins. There are no surprises in what we produce because the output is defined before we start producing it.
We apply our expertise to your specific situation.
The engagement work draws on Maxmetal's technical expertise, market knowledge, regulatory understanding, and where relevant, direct field assessment of the mineral asset or operation in question. Every source used, every data point referenced, and every assessment conducted is documented as part of the engagement record, forming the evidence base that supports the findings in your report.
You review the findings before the final report is issued.
Before the final report is signed and issued, you receive a draft for review. This is not an opportunity to change the findings, the findings are what the evidence supports. It is an opportunity to confirm that the scope was addressed completely, that the output format serves your purpose, and that any factual details about your specific situation are accurately represented. If something in the draft raises a question, we address it at this stage.
Your formal consultancy report is issued, signed, and handed over.
The final report is a formal, signed document issued under Maxmetal's licensed authority, containing the scope statement, methodology, evidence base, findings, and conclusions. It is accompanied by any supporting appendices, data references, or supplementary documentation that the engagement produced. You receive it in a format appropriate for its intended use, whether that is a formal meeting, an investor presentation, a legal proceeding, or a regulatory submission.
A Maxmetal consultancy report.
Built for the room it will be read in.
A consultancy report that states conclusions without showing the methodology and evidence base that produced them is not a professional document. It is an assertion. Assertions can be challenged, dismissed, or ignored by the people in the room who have their own interests to protect.
A Maxmetal consultancy report is built to be challenged, and to hold up under that challenge. Every finding is traceable to specific evidence. Every conclusion follows from documented analysis. The methodology is stated so that anyone reading the report can understand not just what we determined, but how and why. That is the difference between a report that ends a conversation and one that starts a new one with a weaker foundation.
We produce reports with the specific audience in mind. A report going to a private equity investor reads differently from one going into a legal proceeding, not in its findings, but in how those findings are communicated, what supporting detail is included, and what format best serves the reader's purpose. Tell us who is going to be in the room. We produce a document built for that room.

There is advice you can get from many sources.
There is accountable, documented, licensed expert opinion.
They are not the same thing.
The mineral sector in Uganda has no shortage of people who will offer an opinion on your situation. Brokers, market contacts, informal advisors, and well-connected individuals will all have a view on what your mineral is worth, what you should do with your operation, or what a buyer will pay for your asset. Some of those views will even be correct.
The difference between that and a Maxmetal consultancy report is not the intelligence of the person giving the advice. It is the accountability attached to it. When Maxmetal produces a consultancy report, we sign it under our licensed authority. The methodology is documented. The findings are traceable to specific evidence. The conclusions are specific enough to be held accountable to.
An investor who receives a Maxmetal report and asks a hard question about the valuation methodology gets a documented answer that takes them back through every step of the assessment. A legal process that calls the expert opinion into question encounters a report that was built for exactly that kind of scrutiny. A commercial counterparty who tries to dispute the findings has to dispute the documented evidence and methodology, not just the conclusion.
That is what accountability looks like in a professional advisory context. And it is why the clients who come to Maxmetal for consultancy are not the ones looking for the answer they want to hear. They are the ones who need an answer they can stake a decision on.
Documented Methodology
Every determination in a Maxmetal report has a traceable origin. The methodology is not described in general terms, it is stated specifically enough that anyone reading the report can evaluate how the findings were produced.
Licensed Authority
Our reports are issued under an active DGSM mineral license. That is not a branding claim. It is a regulatory credential that makes our expert opinion verifiable and our operation accountable to a formal external authority.
No Conclusions Without Evidence
We do not state a finding we cannot support. If the evidence supports a range of conclusions rather than a single definitive one, we state that range precisely and explain what additional information would narrow it. We do not produce false certainty to make a report look more decisive.
Before you walk into that room,
make sure you know what you are walking in with.
The most common mistake mineral property owners make when approaching investors is presenting an asset without independent, certified documentation of its value. They arrive with geological observations, informal assessments, optimistic projections, and the conviction that what they have is valuable. And they are often right about the value. What they do not have is the documented, independent expert determination that turns their conviction into something an investor can act on.
A serious investor, whether a private equity firm, a development financier, or a strategic acquirer, does not make a commitment based on the seller's assessment of the asset. They make it based on what an independent, credentialled expert determined after applying a documented methodology to the specific asset. The gap between those two things is the gap between a conversation and a transaction.
A Maxmetal mineral valuation or investment preparation report closes that gap. It takes your asset through a structured, documented assessment process and produces an independent determination that answers the questions your investor's due diligence will ask, before they ask them. The investor receives the report alongside your presentation, not as a follow-up to a question you were not prepared for.

Expert mineral opinion for the contexts
where getting it wrong is not an option.
Legal proceedings, estate settlements, and formal dispute processes involving mineral assets require expert opinion of a specific quality: independent, documented, methodologically transparent, and issued by an operation whose credentials can be verified by the legal process itself.
A Maxmetal consultancy report produced for a legal or estate context is built to that standard from the outset. The scope is defined in terms of the specific legal or estate question being addressed. The methodology is documented in the level of detail that a legal reviewer will expect. The conclusions are stated with the precision and evidence base that allows them to be presented as expert evidence rather than opinion.
We have worked with legal processes, estate administrators, and dispute procedures involving mineral assets and mineral rights in Uganda's commercial and legal environment. We understand what these contexts require, not in the abstract, but in the specific terms of what a Ugandan court, arbitration panel, or estate administration process will accept as credible expert evidence.
If you are approaching a legal process or estate matter involving a mineral asset and you need expert opinion that will hold up, the conversation with Maxmetal should happen before you enter that process, not after you discover that the opinion you have is not sufficient for the standard required.

The questions clients ask before a consultancy engagement.
The distinction is this: if you need to know what your mineral physically contains, you need a technical service, assaying, testing, or refining. If you need expert guidance on what to do with that information, how to present it, or what the commercial or regulatory implications are, you need consultancy. Many engagements combine both, a technical service produces the data, and the consultancy engagement applies expert interpretation to that data for a specific commercial or legal purpose. Contact us and describe your situation. We will tell you directly which service or combination applies.
It depends on the scope. A focused single-question advisory engagement can be completed in days. A comprehensive mineral asset assessment for investor presentation may take several weeks. The timeline is confirmed as part of the scope agreement before the engagement begins, not estimated informally and then revised. If you have a deadline, an investor meeting, a legal filing date, a regulatory submission, tell us at first contact and we will confirm whether the timeline is achievable before you commit.
Yes. Every Maxmetal consultancy engagement is subject to professional confidentiality. The details of your mineral asset, your commercial situation, and the findings of the engagement are not disclosed to any third party without your explicit agreement. If your situation requires a formal confidentiality agreement before the engagement begins, we accommodate that.
Our reports are produced under the documented methodology and licensed authority that formal legal processes require from expert evidence. Whether a specific report is appropriate for use in a specific legal proceeding depends on the jurisdiction, the nature of the proceeding, and the scope of the report. If you are approaching a legal process, tell us that at the outset. We produce the report with that context in mind and advise you on whether its scope and format meet the evidentiary requirements of your specific process.
Where the engagement scope requires direct field assessment of a mineral property or mining operation, yes. The need for a site visit is determined during the scope definition stage, not assumed. If your engagement requires on-site assessment, the site visit forms part of the documented methodology of the report. If it does not require one, we do not charge for travel and time to conduct one unnecessarily.
The findings reflect what the evidence supports. If the evidence indicates that a mineral asset is worth less than the client hoped, or that a proposed processing approach has a significant flaw, or that a regulatory compliance gap exists, the report states that. Clearly. We do not adjust findings to make a client more comfortable with the outcome. We advise clients before the engagement begins that this is the standard we work to, and the clients who engage us understand that an honest, documented assessment is more valuable than a favourable one that does not hold up. If the findings raise a question about what to do next, we address that in the recommendations section of the report.
Every Maxmetal consultancy engagement is conducted under active DGSM licensing and full regulatory compliance.
Our mineral refinery and dealer license is issued by Uganda's Directorate of Geological Survey and Mines and is independently verifiable through the MCRS portal. Our license reference appears on every consultancy report we issue. If your investor, legal counsel, regulatory authority, or institutional counterparty requires documentation of our regulatory standing before they will accept our report as credible expert opinion, we provide it on request.
